Objective: Accountable for transforming the small IT security team into a strong business enabling service adhering to relevant legal, regulatory & contractual obligations to reduce risks to within appetite.• Accountable for defining, budgeting and delivering the Strategic Security Roadmap for the UK’s largest cheque processor of +190m items worth +£250b each year. • Identifying, protecting against, detecting, responding and resiliently recovering from cyber threats & attacks.• Leadership accountability for all security activities including migration of all services from on-premise to cloud, consolidating the security stack, replacing ineffective services & improving efficiency.• Leveraging MITRE ATT & CK for threat intelligence gathering, heat mapping, control deployment & improving incident response to counter ever changing threat landscape.• Conduct phishing testing, vulnerability & compliance scans, Pen Tests, Red Team & Tabletop exercises and raise awareness.• Responsible for security policies, standards and guidelines aligned to ISO27001, NIST, GDPR, NCSC, CIS frameworks and demonstrated in ISAE3402 & SCoC audits.• Lowered the cyber exposure rating from Medium to Very Low & achieved an A Security Scorecard rating and a BitSight score of 820/900.• Representing the business by chairing meetings, delivering MI, providing subject matter expertise to all levels, including clients, board, committees and for speaking at security events.• Line management duties, development & mentoring diverse high-performing teams, implementing CIISEC framework and establishing pathways for non-security staff into security streams. • Automate & optimise BAU processes, managed relationships with 3rd party vendors and managed service providers.Result:• Achieved a below appetite cyber risk rating for the first time in the organisation’s history, sustained zero regulatory penalties, reportable incidents, data breaches, audit findings and Green Scorecards from all clients.
