ABOUT MARTIN B.

Martin’s previous career history in retail buying and planning puts him in good stead for creating a business that innovates products that sell from locations around the world. Before starting Treat Kitchen Martin had roles for Claires Accessories working from offices in the UK, Hong Kong and Chicago purchasing for a combined stores and up to 2014 Coles supermarket group Australia where he purchased $250 million of confectionery, chocolates and food gifting sourced from Aus, UK, EU and China. As CEO of Treat Kitchen Martin has built a business that’s a “one stop shop” for retailers to access expertise in Buying, Planning, Sourcing, Food Technical, Logistics, Branding, Creative & Marketing. One of the key reasons for growth has been his history in buying meaning Treat Kitchen speaks the language that retailers use, building strong relationships that last.Martins’ philosophy from the beginning was to build a community minded business that hired young high potential people based on their behaviour and layered in technical ability thereafter. By establishing relationships with Nottingham’s Universities Treat Kitchen sees around 60 students a year completing work experience and graduate schemes. This creates a continuous pipeline of talent for Treat Kitchen to select from. Treat Kitchen has won regional awards each year since its beginning, including three SME of the year awards, Growth awards, Entrepreneur of the year, Best Team, Best Female team, Rising female star, Community impact to name a few. Martin has mentored a senior team capable of growing the business significantly and in turn his senior team are mentoring their own teams too. As Vice chair of Base 51, Nottingham’s only independent Youth work and counselling service Martin’s passion for early intervention youth support is evident. Treat Kitchen is committed to this cause and have built Base 51’s branding, website, social media and CSR content and continue to support this charity and others consistently. Martin’s passion is seeking new opportunities and whilst he has a proven track record in delivering great looking products globally, he would say his energy comes from finding great talent and turning potential into reality for the individual. Martin builds great teams by being aware of his strengths but focusses on his weaknesses and finds people who are different and can add to the broader mix of talent. Treat Kitchen is a group of very different people who synergise on one key goal – Doing what we say to the best of our ability.
