ABOUT MARTIN AIRD

I’ve spent my career building real solutions to complex problems — from embedded safety systems to full-stack SaaS platforms.I contributed to engineering efforts at companies like Ocado, Smiths Detection, Nortel and within UK government tech programmes — working across software, infrastructure, safety, and automation domains.I’ve also worn multiple hats: project lead, product owner, developer, and platform architect. What sets me apart is the breadth of my background and the depth of practical experience, not just writing code, but mentoring teams, integrating cloud systems, automating deployments, and helping teams work better together.I recently designed and launched ParkingSpaceManager.com, a complete Azure-hosted platform that allows organisations to manage parking allocations, bookings, and access rules — developed independently from front-end to deployment automation. The project reflects my ability to see a product through from concept to delivery, and to build systems that scale securely.Today, I’m looking for new challenges where I can combine technical leadership, product thinking, and engineering craft — either as a fractional CTO, a consultant to growing tech teams, or in a senior engineering role with strategic influence.Alongside my work in technology, I hold a Private Pilot Licence and enjoy deep technical interests in engineering, science and aviation. Whether collaborating with teams or flying solo, I’m someone who brings focus, pragmatism, and a systems-thinking mindset to everything I take on.Key Skills, Expertise and Experience- People Leadership, Mentoring- Strategy, Architecture, Planning & Roadmaps- Service Delivery- Change, Transformation Management - Project & Program Management- Automation & API DevOps Engineering- SRE (Site Reliability Engineering)- Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions- Exec & Stakeholder Management- Financial Budget Management- Performance Management- Process Improvement- Audit, Governance & Regulatory oversight- Out-Sourcing/Off-Shoring/InSourcing- Third-Party Vendor Management
