WORK HISTORY
Chair @Black South West Network
England, GB
BSWN is a black led infrastructure organisation that has worked extensively with black and minoritised communities and similarly led delivery organisations across the South West. We engage with black and minoritised people across the south west’s communities with the aim of working with and for those marginalised in society due to their race or ethnicity; a discrimination that is often exacerbated by their socio-economic background and other factors of inequality such as gender, sexuality, faith, and disability.

ABOUT MARTINO BURGESS
Since I have practised as a lawyer. I am a partner at Knights, a national law firm with over 23 offices throughout the UK. I am an experienced corporate lawyer looking to build longstanding relationships with all my clients. In 1994 before I became a lawyer my brother and I secured VC finance to acquire a 1200 capacity nightclub. I was one of the key strategists in turning ‘Lakota’ into an internationally renowned music venue specialising in underground music. In the early days at Lakota we implemented an innovative marketing strategy to establish the brand. Lakota is now an established fixture in Bristol’s cultural landscape. I have very limited involvement in the day to day running although I help set strategy and work with the promotions and marketing team to ensure Lakota remains current whilst retaining its underground ethos.I am the chair the Black South West Network. Black South West Network is a black-led racial justice charity which supports the development of dynamic, independent and strong black and minoritised communities, businesses and organisations to flourish whilst challenging system barriers.
