About Martha J. Demski

Martha Demski is an experienced board member and an accomplished, strategically focused, solution driven, business executive with over 35 years of experience in biotech and finance. She is currently Lead Independent Director of the Board of the biopharmaceutical company, Chimerix, Inc.(CMRX) and serves as a member of the Audit Committee. Additionally, she is a Director of Equillium, Inc.(EQ) and Alpha Teknova, Inc.(TKNO), serving as Chair of their Audit Committees and a member of their Compensation Committees. She previously served on the Boards of ADMA Biologics and Adamas Pharmaceuticals. In 2017 she was recognized as Director of the Year in Corporate Governance by the Corporate Directors Forum. Before retiring in May 2017, Ms. Demski was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ajinomoto Althea, Inc,(now known as Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services), a fully-integrated contract development and cGMP manufacturing organization. There she led diverse functions including finance, IT, facilities, legal, corporate development and supply chain, notably spearheading the M&A transaction that resulted in the successful sale of Althea Technologies to Ajinomoto in 2013 at a record premium. She was brought into the organization in 2011 to turn it around and position it for sale. Under her leadership the company achieved an 181% improvement in net income and increase in EBITDA becoming one of the top Ajinomoto affiliates globally in 2015. Her career also includes roles as Interim COO and CFO of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center and as VP and CFO of Vical Incorporated, where she led the company\'s transformation from a startup to a publicly traded entity. Earlier she spent over 13 years with Bank of America, focusing on industries including, biotech, insurance, financial services, manufacturing, commercial real estate development, beverage distributorships, hotels and restaurants. Martha brings extensive experience in areas critical to boards, including strategic realignments, asset acquisition and integration, financial turnaround, commercial launch, CEO/board succession planning, and risk management. Martha earned her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Accounting and Finance and her BA from Michigan State University.
