ABOUT MARTA F SUAREZ
I am a Senior Lecturer in the areas of screen studies, culture and history. My research explores issues of representation of immigration and race, interrogating how these construct ideas of nation and belonging. I am currently embarking on research looking at streaming media (such as Netflix), globalised narratives, and constructions of fictional societies. I am passionate about promoting change through Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) practices. I am the EDI coordinator for the Department and a core member of the Athena Swan working group. I was an Executive Committee Member of BAFTSS (British Association of Film, Television, and Screen Studies) from 2016 to 2020. Annually, I coordinate 30-50 international exchange students, supervise 5-10 final-year dissertations, and supervise the progression of 18-22 undergraduate students.
