ABOUT MARTA GROSS

I am a PhD-trained biochemist with 12+ years of experience in protein purification, molecular cloning, assay development, and biomolecular interactions. I bring a unique combination of independent problem-solving and collaborative teamwork, enabling me to deliver innovative solutions in protein science while securing competitive funding and publishing in high-impact journals. I am passionate about using my experience in protein science for drug discovery and drug development, designing novel biochemical tools, and advancing our understanding of protein functions —all with the goal of improving patients’ lives. Key Achievements & Impact: Experienced collaborator – Delivered high-quality results in interdisciplinary projects, partnering with team members and structural biologists, leading to four publications in top journals, including Nature, NSMB, JBC and PNAS. Pioneered a new research direction – Led an independent PhD project on DNA replication regulation in bacteria by inorganic polyphosphate, opening a new research avenue in the lab. Sole experimental contributor, resulting in a first-author publication (Gross & Konieczny, 2020, Nucleic Acids Research). Developed novel method – Designed and implemented a novel biochemical toolbox addressing longstanding technical challenges in the DNA replication field. Secured competitive research funding – Awarded five grants and three prestigious fellowships, including the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship and EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship, demonstrating my ability to develop impactful research ideas and craft competitive proposals.
