About Mart Pearson
Executive level strategic planning and international business development, with extensive experience in introduction of new technologies to new markets, working with early stage medical device companies. Top to bottom responsibilities including: analysis of market opportunity; application of RA/QA product development processes; strategic direction with a focus on prioritization and targeting; selection of key opinion leaders and clinical introduction of surgical technologies; development of clinical evidence, management of post-market clinical studies and support to pre-market studies; product positioning and communications strategies; creation of international legal entities, teams and support structures; selection and development of sales & marketing, customer service, technical support, logistics and administrative support teams; selection and management of distributor networks. I enjoy the challenges of bridge-building between different cultures and/or organizations and developing relationships with forward thinking people, especially when there is a shared sense of purpose. Specialties: Market development for early stage medical device technology companies in: surgical and interventional oncology with energy-based systems (RF, PEF/PFA); general, GI and HPB surgery; plastic, reconstructive and breast surgery (adhesive/sealant); orthopedics and spine surgery; minimally invasive surgery, surgical endoscopy; device reprocessing and infection prevention.
Experience
Executive Vice President Business Development
Nov 2024 — Present
Responsible for development of Go-To-Market strategy, product positioning, clinician engagement and technology value proposition for an innovative surgical energy platform based on ultrasound. Direct Therapeutic Ultrasound (DTU) represents a paradigm shift in vessel sealing, coagulation and tissue division. Ultrasound energy passes through tissue and is focused at the mid-point between two jaws where the ultrasound waves intersect, eliminating the common problems of smoke, plume, charring, sticking, loss of visibility and the potential for collateral damage to nearby tissues. DTU can be adapted to any kind of surgical platform - lap/MIS, robotic or flexible endoscopy. It is far more precise than existing platforms and will be launched with a 3mm instrument, allowing for percutaneous sealing and division.
