ABOUT MICKAEL MARSO RIVIERE

With over 20 years of experience in the performing arts sector, I am the founder and CEO/Artistic Director of Marso Riviere, a project-based production company that creates and produces eclectic and inter-disciplinary works rooted in Hip Hop culture. My mission is to explore the artistic and social potential of Hip Hop as a form of expression, communication, and education, and to collaborate with diverse artists and audiences across disciplines, cultures and communities. As a performer, producer, workshop leader, mentor, award-winning choreographer, and photographer, I have a rich track record of amazing collaborations and achievements. Some of the notable commissions and partners I have worked with include Carlos Acosta for Acosta Danza, The BBC, Open Your Mind, Damien Jalet, Rambert Dance Company, Hussein Chalayan, Sharleen Spiteri (Texas), Sampad, The Royal Academy of Dance, Birmingham Hippodrome, People Dancing, Dancexchange, Birmingham International Dance Festival, The Place Prize, Breakin Convention, The Cultural Olympiad, The Aurora Orchestra, King’s Cross NC1, Redbull, Danza Contemporanea De Cuba, The British Council, and Hong Kong APA. I have also received the OneDance UK Research in Dance award for my work on exploring the syndrome and symptoms associated with phantom limbs.
