Marlon Curtis is an, award-winning short film director, serial entrepreneur, and investor from Newark, New Jersey, where he gained a reputation as a brilliant, young trailblazer. Creating films and digital content has been Marlon’s passion for as long as he can remember. He turned his passion for film and entrepreneurship into a lucrative business as the Founder of Direct Focus Studio. Between his vision, hard work, Direct Focus Studio transformed from a passion project to multiple paychecks. As Head of Production for the Newark International Film Festival, Marlon can simultaneously cultivate his dreams by doing what he loves and be an inspiration for colleagues and youth in his community. He also maintains a position at ViacomCBS’s BET Network, where he continues to hone his skills. During quarantine, Marlon decided to direct his efforts towards a new business venture aligning with his passion for film and television. On The Set Apparel focuses on making clothing designs for creatives in the film industry to embody life on set in a fun and laid back way. It’s a way for the industry’s creators to actually wear and embody their creativity. In his spare time, Marlon believes in giving back to his community and his industry in whatever way possible. Leading by example is a great place to start, but he also mentors, motivates, and inspires his peers and those just getting started in person and through social media. Meditation is an important part of how he stays centered through the chaos of life and the industry.
