About Ian Marlier

For nearly two decades, I\'ve been helping teams to build and operate software across a wide variety of industries. In that time I\'ve had just about every role at a variety of companies: from Systems Engineer responsible for building an early cloud platform at a C-round startup, to Director of Engineering responsible for system reliability and Sarbannes-Oxley compliance at a company going through a successful IPO, to Director of Product and VP Research and Innovation at companies working to get new products off of the ground.I\'m attracted to new and varied challenges. I\'ve rarely had a job that I knew how to do on day one, and have generally had to define the roles that I wind up occupying. I pride myself on being able to fill just about any gap that exists in an organization.It\'s important to me that any organization that I\'m part of respect the time, effort, and intelligence of everyone who chooses to work there. I have a history of helping my colleagues and team members to grow and develop in their roles, and take immense satisfaction from the number of people I\'ve helped to mentor who have gone on to be very successful in their chosen fields.

   Boston Ultimate Disc Alliance

   Boston Ultimate Disc Alliance (BUDA) is a non-profit organization that organizes recreational and competitive Ultimate Disc in the Boston, MA area. We work with cities and towns around the region to run youth camps and clinics, serving more than kids from age 5 and up in any given year. We also run more than 50 adult programs each year, serving more than players. In cooperation with USA Ultimate we also run several national and regional tournaments each year, including Mixed Easterns, Boston Invite, Eastern New England Sectionals, and Northeast Regionals.As President, I oversee our 2 full-time employees, 50+ coaches, 150+ volunteers, and work with our community to set the direction for the organization.
