ABOUT MARLENE PERALTA
As an strategic communications expert, I have helped leaders, organizations, and coalitions at the city, state, and national level incorporate effective communications and press strategy into their campaigns and movements, offering guidance on how to use media coverage to achieve major policy and legislative goals that will improve people’s lives.I bring a sharp understanding of the news media, politics, government, and advocacy to my work with organizations and activists who are fighting for more deeply affordable housing, for environmental justice, greater protections for immigrant communities, increased resources for public education, better Wall Street accountability, and other important causes and issues.I am a former politics bureau chief at El Diario, the largest and oldest Spanish-language daily newspaper in New York City. Earlier in my career, I have contributed regular news stories and feature pieces in English and Spanish to print, radio, and television outlets in New York and Washington, including Newsday, HITN TV, AM-NY, City Limits and CUNY TV.In 2014, I served as a co-host of two official NYC mayoral debates that aired on WCBS and a third in partnership with Telemundo. I am an Emmy award nominee and the winner of a 2024 Telly Award and three 2012 Communicator Awards from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA).
