ABOUT MARLENE S.

Currently working as Executive Director, Head of Epidemiology, at Genesis Research. Worked at IQVIA implementing an offering to design, operationalize and conduct phase IV studies requiring less complex operations than large, regulatory commitments. As a pharmacoepidemiologist, I oversaw the scientific rigor of delivery and led design and analytic plans. Up front work involved interacting with pharmaceutical companies to design scientifically rigorous objectives with minimally complex operations. Previously, my research focused on the epidemiology of HIV and STDs. At the George Washington Milken School of Public Health, through an academic partnership with the District of Columbia Department of Health (HAHSTA: HIV/AIDS Hepatitis STD Tuberculosis Administration) I examined HIV surveillance data. Additionally, as an Assistant Research Professor, I advised MPH students on graduate theses and taught a class on proposal writing. While at Harvard, my research centered on exploring the relationship between risk factors, demographics, and other immunologic, virologic and pharmacologic characteristics, and their association with the progression of disease and clinical outcomes (ex. renal, neurologic, suicide, cardiac) among HIV-positive individuals enrolled in a long-term NIH-funded cohort study, with the AIDS clinical trials group (ACTG). In graduate school, my concentration was in infectious disease epidemiology. The topic of my dissertation was HIV and STD epidemiology in NC. Prior to graduate school I held positions in consulting firms and research organizations working on a variety of topics including Medicaid reimbursement, a pharmaceutical compassionate care program, NIH-funded HIV cohort study and health economic research.
