Mark Adkins is the founder & CEO of LeanMed LLC, a medical product company dedicated to bringing essential treatment to underserved regions through innovative technologies. LeanMed\'s first product, the solar powered O2 Cube, provides on-site medical oxygen production and storage for healthcare facilities in the LMIC\'s. With 60% of the world\'s population lacking access to safe and affordable oxygen, the O2 Cube is a landmark step in improving care and saving lives. Mr. Adkins served as director and chair of the Product Development and Management Association. The PDMA community is woven from a fabric of international practicing professionals, professors, students and service providers that support corporations and startups with their innovation and product development expertise.Mark was an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Medical Innovation. He taught Innovation Management to educate the next generation of innovators in the design, development, and commercialization of medical technologies. He is the founder & president of Smart Hammer Innovation, a management consulting business that helps companies apply best practices to Innovation Management. During his career, Mark and his teams have led development projects that have launched numerous new products with lifetime sales of over $1B. Before founding Smart Hammer Innovation Mr. Adkins was a Director at Cincinnati Machine where he spearheaded the design of their new product development process that was recognized in 1998 as the best in the world by the PDMA. Mark was also a director at Kennametal where he successfully integrated independent development teams from Europe, Asia and N. America and launched three next generation product lines.

LeanMed\'s first product, the O2 Cube, is a solar powered oxygen production system recognized by the WHO as an Innovative Health Technology. It designed to serve the rural hospitals and health centers around the world that have unstable or non-existent grid electricity. These facilities serve 1.2 billion people. Lack of access to medical oxygen is a key reason that that pediatric pneumonia kills children every year.
