   Markus Richard Schulte holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Structural Engineering from the Leibniz University in Hannover, Germany. He is a registered structural engineer in Europe and in multiple states in the United States. He joined Arup in 1993. Markus leads Arup’s Façade Engineering & Building Physics group in NYC. As a Project Director for complex, multidisciplinary projects Markus has gained extensive experience in the design and construction of buildings in the US and around the world.Markus and his work have been featured in multiple publications. His interest lies in designing and building projects at the highest possible quality level within the budget, schedule and programmatic constraints of our clients. Markus’ experience includes the supervision of all of Arup’s design and construction administration activities for the award-winning renovation, upgrade and expansion of Lincoln Center’s campus in New York City – a $1.2bn project.In addition, Markus has been responsible for the engineering design, analysis and construction of the Sony Center in Berlin, Germany – a large-scale Urban Entertainment Center that features multiple flagship stores and theaters. His experience includes the engineering design and analysis of the ‘stadium size’ Forum Roof exploring a unique combination of glass and Teflon coated fabric on a cable structure.Markus has been a visiting lecturer at Cooper Union and at the University in Vienna, Austria. He was the Consulting Engineer to Zaha Hadid’s Studio at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.His current projects include the expansion of the SF-MoMA with Snohetta and Cornell’s First Academic Net-Zero Energy Building on Roosevelt Island with Morphosis, and Mexico City’s new airport with Foster & Partners. In addition, he is working on a number of confidential, commercial developments in New York City.
