ABOUT MARK STANLEY-WOOD
I’m a technical leader with over 18 years’ experience across AI, software engineering, web development, and team leadership. After completing my undergraduate degree, I moved into research, completing a PhD on how agents can learn and adapt in uncertain environments. From there, I shifted into full-stack development, then into architecture and leadership roles.In recent years, I’ve returned to applied AI, leading machine learning research in defence and adjacent sectors. The work has been exploratory and technically demanding, focused on pushing new ideas forward while keeping sight of their potential real-world relevance.I still lean on my software background day to day — helping teams work through tricky problems, giving structure to ideas, and keeping projects heading in the right direction.In my latest role, I’m focusing on the energy and environment sector. I’m particularly interested in working with curious, collaborative people on complex, meaningful challenges — and continuing to learn along the way.
