About Mark Smith
I am a builder of high performing teams. I leverage setting clear expectations and purpose, continuous improvement, and emotional intelligence to help the teams reach their full potential. I believe in establishing and keeping trust by creating an environment of psychological safety and keeping my commitments. I started my career as a software engineer working on Cerner’s clinical EHR. Next I was promoted to manager and managed two to eight agile teams within the clinical EHR department. Then I was promoted to director of engineer and led 10 - 15 agile teams. Finally, I took an opportunity as a principal engineer to improve and scale our engineering organization.Developed an interoperability platform that facilitates the flow of external data into the EHR. Designed the high level technical approach and worked with agile teams to implement. Led and coordinated over 400 people for the project leveraging servant leadership and emotional intelligence.Rolled out SAFe across the clinical organization as an agile champion. Defined ARTs and engaged with all levels of leadership to implement the necessary changes. Developed a mass immunization solution quickly while maintaining high quality to assist in administering COVID vaccinations.I love hearing stories as they help round out my perspectives.
