ABOUT MARK SMITH

Elevating operational performance and business value through vision, strategy, and excellence in operations has been my mission as an executive.My experience and level of expertise in operations and manufacturing is both broad and in-depth as I’ve managed businesses end-to-end, providing leadership across all business and operational functions; integrated assets associated with M&A activities; and served in the capacity of COO, CEO and General Manager. Whether building infrastructure, revitalizing operations or executing strategies that deliver efficiencies; I stay focused on creating environments that are safe for employees and environmentally friendly. I’m most proud to have led organizations in achieving industry leading metrics in safety, environmental, and reliability throughout my career. During my journey, I’ve led numerous turnaround situations and have become quite adept at evaluating teams, structure, and business dynamics impeding performance. In all those situations, through strategy and the teams I’ve led, we delivered improvements in EBITDA and overall profitability while achieving high return-on-capital-employed (ROCE). I’m charged by a good challenge!Much of my success, can be attributed to the individuals and team I’ve had the fortune to collaborate with and direct. As a people leader, my approach is collaborative as I strive to engage, empower and build cultures employees can be proud to be a part of. Outside of work, I stay active through mountain biking, hiking, and weightlifting.
