Leads on policy, thought leadership, and advocacy for the primary nonprofit focused on the work of the dynamic multistakeholder partnership on health - the Global Fund Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Coordinates developing and advancing Friends’ policy and advocacy work to support U.S. investment in global health, particularly through the Global Fund. He also manages all Friends’ collaboration with civil society of low- and- middle-income countries and donor countries of the global North, as well as with the private sector and with the faith community. Played a leading role in Friends having enormous impact: securing a bipartisan House delegation to the Global Fund (GF) 2019 Replenishment to make a pledge in lieu of the Trump Administration; winning a 15.5% increase in funding in FY2020; emergency funding for the GF’s COVID-19 Response Mechanism equal to 225% of the annual appropriation, exempted from a match requirement in U.S. law; Biden’s hosting the 2022 Replenishment and a 28% increase in funding in FY23; and that GF level maintained in a Republican House-passed FY24 State-Foreign Operations bill (otherwise shrunk 12%).
