As the head of global information technology vendor management Mark’s mandate is to set up and manage a new vendor management office in McCain. Objectives include optimizing costs, consolidating vendors and holding vendors accountable to performance. This is done through establishing a strategic vendor management approach to managing the technology vendors in McCain Foods.• Actively managed 15 top vendors of 400 globally representing the top 80% of spend.• Reduced the vendor count by folding regional vendors into enterprise vendors and directing spend through the preferred vendor program. • Moved critical functions internally into the global technology centres in Canada and India. • Established a vendor tiering program identifying strategic vendors as tier 1, and preferred vendors as tier 2. • Established a vendor risk monitoring program through leveraging technology to report on vendor financial, cyber security and geo-political risk. • Established a vendor business review program through quarterly business reviews assessing vendor quantitative, qualitative performance and risk assessment. This was also a facility for vendors to share innovation initiatives and investments. Opportunity for vendors to share feedback to McCain on how McCain could enhance support to vendors increasing vendor success. • Built up staff in support of the VMO operations providing leadership and ownership of programs within the VMO to staff members. • Program resulted in improved vendor performance through greater collaboration between McCain Foods and vendors leading to projects to being completed within budget and often sooner than planned. • Cost savings/avoidance of 5% projected for FY25 through negotiated rate cards, innovation funds and larger spend commitment with fewer vendors.
