ABOUT MARK LATHROP
At the end of March, 2018, I retired from my Community Relations Manager position with Sierra Pacific Industries. Born and raised in Chico, I have held a variety of positions with SPI during my 42 years with the company. I was responsible for communications with local elected officials, county boards of supervisors and other community groups. My area included Butte, Plumas, Tehama, Lassen, Shasta, Modoc, Trinity, Siskiyou, Sierra and Humboldt counties. I have worked on projects including the SPI Website, company newsletter, social media sites and other internal and external communications for SPI. I have been the principal photographer for SPI for more than 15 years. I have participated on numerous boards including the Redding Chamber of Commerce and the Tehama County Education Foundation. I am Past President of the Shasta County Farm Bureau. Probably my proudest achievement was earning the rank of Eagle Scout which has helped me my entire adult life.My wife Vieva and I reside in Red Bluff and have five children, Erika, Lauren, Lucas, Justin and Danielle. We have seven grandchildren: Kira, Madeline, Kate, Marcus, Audrey, Layne and Ella. We still have 3 kids at home, our Labrador retrievers Trigger, Gus and Tuley. We like to stay active and enjoy camping, hunting, gardening, photography, antiquing and traveling. In no particular order although my wife would say traveling is number one. For me it’s probably hunting.I have accepted a part time position with Loggers Association of Northern California as their Executive Director. I look forward to working with the \"Salt-of-the-Earth\" people I have worked with my entire career. Those who have sawdust in their veins.
