About Mark L. J.
Most people trapped by unwanted thoughts or feelings struggle to find solutions for automatic responses. I use research-based mental health counseling to provide clients personalized treatment so they gain freedom and flourish in pursuit of their goals. I am a staff therapist at Sage Counseling Associates, LLC under the direction of Tiffany Tufford, LPC, and the supervision of Chris Wheelus, PhD, LMFT, LPC. In addition to face-to-face sessions, I am certified to meet with clients virtually in the state of Georgia. I am eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy trained, working with many clients to address negative impacts of trauma, like uncontrollable reactions, PTSD, dissociation, paranoia, and relationship difficulties. Many trauma responses can be eliminated and replaced with more constructive responses. In addition to EMDR, I regularly apply cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing. I am also trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1 and 2) and Prepare/Enrich Certified, working with many couples to recover from affairs and change negative relationship patterns. Prior to changing careers, I worked for 20 years as a technical architect and systems engineer in designing, developing, and implementing network solutions for optical/data networks.
