ABOUT MARK IRVING TROMSNESS

I am a firm believer that strong learning and development initiatives - offering accessible training and upskilling/reskilling opportunities - are what set organizations apart in their ability to deliver high-impact results to clients and stakeholders goal to make internal processes more efficient (thus saving time and $) efforts to engage, satisfy, and retain employees [aka cultivate epic company culture] We all know what it\'s like to be on the receiving end of crappy deliverables [as a client] and professional development that falls flat / non-existent professional development / DIY, on-the-job \"training\"[as an employee]. It sucks. Great company culture begins with valuing employees\' desire to do their jobs well, which means having tools, strategies, trainings available to them that are relevant, engaging, and effective. It continues with improved internal efficiency & productivity. Great company culture\'s ripple effect ends with satisfied clients and referrals. The icing on the cake?(or is it actually the cake itself?) Employee retention. Valuing your team means providing skills training / PD so they feel confident on the job because they are current & equipped in their industry and role and see the impact and results of their work. Here\'s where I see a disconnect between on-the-ground job duties and requirements + L&D (or lack thereof): 🟠 Consultation of learners without active listening = training with low relevance 🟠 Curriculum / content development process that doesn\'t centre DEI to provide inclusive, equitable, accessible material = learners who fall through the cracks 🟠 Efficiency of training delivery & facilitation prioritized over impact = productivity on paper, boxes ticked, mediocre/weak learner engagement 🟠 Aiming for content accuracy and effective training while hiring externally = curriculum and L&D opportunities that are not specialized or tailored to improve day-to-day tasks of specific roles (outsider perspectives only go so far) I\'m here to employ: active listening liaising and networking communication and consultation across distributed teams curiosity and empathy innovation problem-solving critical thinking And of course time-management and project management are a given What do you think? Do you see the value of skill-sharpening & career advancement opportunities within your organization? Feel free to DM or tag me in any post about #companyculture #accessibility #diverseabilities #adultlearning #learninganddevelopment #employeeretention
