ABOUT DAVID MARKHAM

With over 18 years\' experience across diverse community and regulatory environments, I specialize in moving projects forward through complex application and engagement processes. Approaching people with open lines of communication, I have been able to successfully represent company interests while developing mitigation strategies to avoid negative impacts to communities. Successfully balancing company and community interests has been crucial to my success in external relations.My past experience includes securing regulatory approvals for major capital projects in the natural gas and mining industries, developing beneficial partnerships and positive company reputations with local communities and Indigenous Groups, and assessing the impact of changes to public policy.Some of my career highlights include:* Earning regulatory approvals and surface land acquisitions for well sites, pipelines, and facilities within specified timelines to avoid project delays.* Recognized with an Award of Excellence and Leadership for External Outreach by the Mining Association of Canada\'s Towards Sustainable Mining Program.* Consulting and corresponding with Indigenous Groups in support of complex capital projects and exploration programs.* Developing an issue management system to promote improved reporting of political risk and government relations activities.* Negotiated partnerships to overcome human resources challenges that included securing funding from the Government of Canada for new training programs.As a respectful and dedicated practitioner, I enjoy interacting with stakeholders to fully understand the expectations of all groups involved, and build strategies to meet or exceed those expectations.
