ABOUT MARK GOULD
Since July 2018 I have been working in a sector that is new to me (apprenticeships), doing work that is close to my heart: helping the business grow, while improving the value and quality of what we do for students and employers. I previously operated as a consultant: helping legal services businesses improve their capability to create, develop and use knowledge, so that they could serve clients better and distinguish themselves in a crowded market. I focused particularly on making sense of the new legal landscape and catalysing action within it. Between September 2006 and May 2014, I was Head of Knowledge Management at Addleshaw Goddard. I was responsible for finding, developing and promoting ways in which people in the firm could make the most of their own and other people’s knowledge. In addition to managing knowledge activities for the firm, in June 2011 I took on responsibility for leading the firm\'s 20 Professional Support Lawyers (PSLs) as a team, focusing them on delivering improved profitability for the firm and their practice groups. Before moving into the lead KM role in September 2006, I was a Professional Support Lawyer in the firm’s Competition, Trade & Regulatory group, looking after the team’s know-how and training needs, and deepening client relationships through knowledge support. Prior to joining Addleshaw Goddard, I was a Lecturer in Law at the University of Bristol (19••••01) and the University of Hull (19••••89), teaching undergraduate and postgraduate subjects including Public Law, Jurisprudence and EU Law. Specialties: Knowledge management, use of technology in legal practice and education. As of February 2010, I am an accredited Cognitive Edge practitioner, and I am actively exploring ways of explaining and dealing with complexity at work.
