About Mark Freedman

Mark Freedman is Principal and CEO of Rebel Global Security (RGS), a Washington-based firm that provides national security advice to the private sector. RGS helps businesses navigate global and national security dynamics to achieve commercial success. Mark works closely with Rebel’s clients, including government affairs, policy, strategy, business development, and marketing leaders across energy, security, defense, and other critical infrastructure and strategic industries. He guides the firm’s service delivery in all areas, including analysis, strategy, thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, and security assessment.Prior to founding Rebel, Mark served for nearly a decade as a U.S. State Department officer, including as Chief of Staff to the Ambassador-at-Large for Counterterrorism. He led interagency initiatives on counterterrorism, weapons proliferation, and security cooperation, and advised senior U.S. government officials on national security policy and strategic risk.Mark has also held strategy consulting roles with Deloitte Consulting and Xcelerate Solutions, advising the Department of Defense, FBI, and U.S. Intelligence Community on great power competition, threat management, and critical infrastructure resilience.His commentary on national and global security issues has appeared in RealClearEnergy, RealClearDefense, Industry Dive, SecurityInfoWatch, and Security Technology Executive. He holds an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University.
