Her prior AbbVie experience leading clinical development and regulatory milestones communication in oncology, neurology, immunology, and rare disease shaped her ability to develop people-centered business models in biotechnology.Her foundational career experiences with powerhouse consumer brands, including Gatorade and Nike, complimented her life experience and influenced her people and society orientation in business. At Walgreen Co, Markeisha served in executive communications, media relations and issues managements roles. Her work spanned mergers and acquisitions communications to leading corporate initiatives. In partnership with the White House, Markeisha proudly helped consumers access newly insured medicines upon the passing of the Affordable Care Act. Her work was recognized at a White House reception.Before joining Walgreens, Markeisha received an unrivalled education in consumer marketing and building brand equity as a public relations agency-trained (Fleishman-Hillard and Weber Shandwick, respectively) partner to Gatorade, Nike, Procter & Gamble’s SK-II (an international assignment in Singapore), OnStar, Chevrolet, and Motorola, among others.Markeisha’s personal passions include health equity, education, mentoring, storytelling, and global travel. Inspired by Muhammad Yunus’ “Banker to the Poor”, Markeisha constructed Grameen Foundation’s communications plan as a member of its Bankers Without Boarders program. As a curious life-long learner, Markeisha has advanced her knowledge with formal education at Northwestern and Harvard Universities, respectively.
