ABOUT MARK A. SCHOLZ
As President and CEO of the Canadian Association of Energy Contractors (CAOEC), I have the privilege of representing Canada’s drilling and service rig operators and energy service companies working at the wellhead.I advocate for our members at every level of government and with the Canadian public. I listen closely to their experiences, share their stories, and work hard to ensure their voices are heard. These are the contractors, many of them small and medium-sized businesses, who create good jobs in communities across the country, support families, and deliver the safe, reliable energy that underpins our economy every day.I am genuinely passionate about this industry. The oil and gas sector has been, and continues to be, one of the best in the world at innovation, safety, environmental performance, and providing meaningful opportunities for people from all walks of life. I believe strongly in highlighting the real contributions our members make daily from supporting middle-class workers and Indigenous communities to advancing responsible development and new energy solutions.I approach this work with humility, recognizing that my job is to serve the industry. Whether building relationships with government officials, engaging with the media, or collaborating with our board and member companies, my focus remains on practical outcomes: fostering understanding, solving problems together, and helping secure a strong, sustainable future for the energy contractors who keep Canada moving forward.I’m proud to play a small part in telling their stories and championing an industry that delivers real value to Canadians.
