About Mark Rakip

Mark is currently an accounting branch chief within the Office of Real Estate and Construction in the Division of Corporation Finance at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Mark is responsible for leading a team reviewing 1933 and 1934 Act filings for compliance with accounting and regulatory standards submitted by companies primarily in the real estate sector. Within the Division, Mark previously held a management position in the Office of Manufacturing and prior to that appointment was on rotation in both the Office of Chief Accountant and Office of Risk and Strategy. Mark began working at the SEC in the Office of Real Estate and Commodities in 2007.Prior to joining the SEC, Mark worked in the external financial reporting group at the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) and began his career in public accounting with KPMG LLP, both located in Tysons, VA. Mark received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University, is currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania and Virginia, and is a member of the AICPA.
