ABOUT MARK THOMSEN
As one of America’s most accomplished tenors Mark Thomsen has performed to acclaim at the Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, La Scala (Milan), Wiener Staatsoper, Wiener Volksoper, the Macau International Music Festival, the Beijing Music Festival, New York City Opera, Dallas Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, and the Santa Fe Opera among others. Highlights of recent seasons include singing the tenor solos of J. S. Bach’s Bleib bei uns (BWV 6) and Ein Feste Burg (BWV 80) for the Bach Festival of Central Florida, the tenor solos in G. F. Händel’s Messiah (The Orpheum Presents), directing and singing in several productions with the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra (FKA. Imperial Symphony Orchestra) including productions of Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusitcana, Puccini’s \"La boheme,\" Mozart’s \"Die Zauberflöte,\" J. Strauss’ \"Die Fledermaus\"(in English) and directing and singing the role of Alfredo in their production of Verdi’s \"La Traviata.\" Other highlights include singing the role of Pirelli in Portland Opera’s production of Sondheim’s \"Sweeney Todd;\" The Governor, Vanderdendeer and Ragotski in Portland Opera\'s production of Bernstein\'s \"Candide;\" singing a recital for the King and Queen of Sweden with Maestro James Caraher at the piano in Minneapolis; performing the role of Cavaradossi in Puccini\'s \"Tosca\" in Mercatello sul Metauro, Italy; and performing the role of Don Ottavio in Opera Las Vegas\' production of Mozart\'s \"Don Giovanni.\" As Artist-In-Residence with Florida Southern College (FSC) based in Lakeland, FL, Mr. Thomsen has staged/designed several operettas and operas with the talented students at Florida Southern College. The students get many performing opportunities as well as experience in the production disciplines of set design, building, makeup, costuming, marketing, super titles, etc. Mr. Thomsen is interested in organizations that propel upcoming artists to another level of performing.
