ABOUT MARK S.

Over the course of my career, I\'ve had the privilege to develop software, and lead teams in delivering software, for a wide variety of product categories - including wearables, consumer wireless, and automotive. I consider myself a generalist, having broad experience developing solutions across a myriad of domains including low-power wireless, digital signal processing, algorithm design, RTOS kernel design, and operating system services using assembly, C, and modern C++. As a result, I\'ve been able to write software (and occasionally design hardware) for a wide variety of platforms - everything from the smallest PICs to high-performance DSPs and multi-core ARM chips that power today\'s most compelling consumer products.Early on in my career, I designed firmware exclusively for smaller, resource-constrained microcontrollers. Designing for these 8-bit AVRs and 16-bit MSP-430s taught me many key lessons about writing software that\'s not only functionally-correct – but also efficient in terms of speed, power, code, and memory usage. Beyond that, I also gained practical experience in designing for other key considerations, such as scalability, security, and privacy.Developing appropriate solutions that balance constraints against functional requirements is one of the major challenges faced by developers today. This is one particular area where I have been able to leverage my broad expertise to deliver quality code on time, and on budget - and lead teams to achieve the same results.While designing embedded systems has been the focus of my career, I would certainly call it a passion of mine. And this passion extends well beyond the office walls into my hobbyist projects, such as my Guinness World Records certified “World\'s Smallest Arcade Machine”, and my open-source RTOS kernels.
