Whilst I have a very strong technical background, I work closely with the business and operations teams. This is essential to understand the requirements and to the impact of problems in areas performance, latency and capacity. Whether working for an exchange, a bank or a sports betting company, the question is the same: the issues being observed; are they damaging my business?Architecture is my particular expertise, particularly with trading systems and I find that non-functional areas, such as performance, latency and capacity, are often an important component in assuring the business objectives are met. The starting point for much of my work can be summarized as \'measure, analyse and understand\' which lead to useful insight and executable conclusions.In his different roles, Mark has had both the opportunity to build teams and to work in more dynamic environments where change is achieved through influence and relationships. Both have been successful and the key is often to make sure the right questions are answered by the right people.
