With a partner, acquired the assets and ongoing business of Metlab a heat treat company located in a northern Philadelphia suburb specializing in deep case carburizing, nitriding, hardening and other thermal processes on relatively large parts. In 2019, arranged for bank and SBA financing to allow for the purchase of outstanding stock shares, allowing for sole ownership of the company. Responsible for sales and marketing of heat treat services to a customer base of over companies. Prepared sales and marketing materials for the company. Oversaw the fivefold increase in sales from the acquisition of the company in 1998 to the present. Spearheaded the acquisition of the John V. Potero Company in Philadelphia and its merger into Metlab allowing the company to offer heat treating and black oxide coating to customers producing relatively small components. Improved service by acquiring truck and vans to offer pick-up and delivery for nearby companies. Obtained grants from the DOE for the introduction of a thermally diffused vanadium carbide coating process for the improvement of tool life over uncoated parts. Also obtained funding as grants for equipment upgrades and acquisition of recuperators of the exhaust gases for atmosphere heat treat furnaces, recirculating water system for cooling furnaces, and LED lighting for the plant, resulting in significant cost savings and further green-house benefits. Significant parts and heat treatment products include the supply of wire supports on a sole sourced multi-year contract for the U. S. Navy, nitriding of over 30 large main propulsion drive gears for submarines and destroyers, nitriding of off-road transmission components for off-road vehicles and processing of down hole nickel base alloy components, 16’ long use in the oil drilling industry.
