   As FEMA Region Five’s Director of External Affairs, I lead strategic communications and public engagement for over 52 million people across six states, serving as a senior advisor and spokesperson during high-profile crises, including major hurricanes, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and the COVID-19 pandemic. I spearheaded FEMA’s first community engagement team, hosted the inaugural Extreme Heat Summit, and led digital modernization efforts, including launching FEMA’s Before, During, and After podcast and developing cost-saving media innovations. Managing a diverse 14-person team, I oversee congressional relations, stakeholder outreach, and inclusive communication strategies to enhance transparency, resilience, and public trust in disaster response efforts.
