ABOUT MARK PENDRY

Passionate about Integrating Sustainability into the Built Environment. My career has spanned a wide range of built environment projects – including road extensions in Bangladesh, Rail Upgrades in the Republic of Ireland and new commercial, education, healthcare and residential developments in the UK.I now work for Legal and General Modular Homes (LGMH) as their Head of Sustainability. LGMH is a land developer that uses Modern Methods of Construction to quickly build high quality homes and communities.My role includes- Developing and implementing our overarching Sustainability Framework- Setting out our future Carbon Strategy. This covers both our operational emissions as well as the whole life carbon emissions from our products. At present, all our homes achieve an EPC ‘A’ rating. In 2020 only 1.4% of new build homes achieve this level of performance. Net Zero is our next step- Developing a Product Sustainability Strategy – setting out compliance and future requirements of our product- Managing sustainability input into projects, including project viabilities and planning permissions. This covers a lot of ground, including managing various consultants inputs and developing project sustainability statements- Co-ordinating sustainability and environmental issues on construction sites, including Construction Environmental Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans and the Considerate Constructors process- Sustainability Management of our Manufacturing Facility in Sherburn-in-Elmet- Inputting into the Master planning of our new community developments- Enhancing the Social Value that our business generates.
