About Mark Nuetzmann

I have been a software developer since 1988 where I started at Ames Laboratory with the Department of Energy using Fortran, C and C++ to analyze images from a scanning electron microscope for the distribution of minerals in coal. I moved on to Cobol and then C++ soon after starting at Cerner where I developed the Pharmacy Order Entry application and pharmaco-kinetic and dose range management applications in C and C++. I then quickly moved into Windows development during my short time in consulting and then while at Digital Archaeology, Virtumundo and Reuters. However, since then my main focus has been in the area of mobile development, primarily for the Android platform. It is here that I worked primarily in Java and C++ through the JNI layer to get computational gains in performance. Now I work predominantly in Kotlin. My love of software development has taken me from Ames, IA all the way across the world to China, India and back. I absolutely love this field of work. I continue to enjoy developing applications for the Android platform and seeing how the use of software technology and smartphone devices enables people to accomplish things that only a short time ago was reserved for large corporations with high priced development budgets.
