ABOUT MARK NIEFER
Mark Niefer is a lawyer and economist specializing in competition law and policy. Before going into teaching and consulting, he served the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice in key roles during a career that spanned more than twenty-five years (19••••24). He served as an International Advisor focused on digital markets, as well as Deputy Chief Legal Advisor, Special Assistant, and Trial Attorney. He received the John Marshall Award, the Department of Justice’s highest award for attorneys.Before he joined the Antitrust Division, Mark was an economist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he studied the effect of new technology on industrial productivity and energy consumption. He has published articles in economics and law journals and has appeared at many professional conferences. He taught economics at SUNY-Binghamton, and he presently is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Antonin Scalia Law School—George Mason University, where he teaches antitrust.Mark holds a B.A. in economics from Wake Forest University, a Ph.D. in economics from SUNY-Binghamton, and a J.D. from Antonin Scalia Law School—George Mason University.
