About Mark Mims

Mark M. Mims, MD is a double board–certified otolaryngologist and facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, serving as an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He is Medical Director of the OU Physicians ENT Clinic and Associate Program Director for the Otolaryngology residency. Dr. Mims completed fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of North Carolina after residency at the University of Pittsburgh, and his academic work spans facial trauma, reconstruction, facial nerve disorders, and surgical education. He is an award-winning educator, internationally invited speaker, and widely published researcher with a strong focus on mentorship and training the next generation of surgeons.Dr. Mims is the Founder and Director of Operation Ukraine at OU Health, an internationally recognized program dedicated to capacity building for Ukrainian surgeons during wartime. With his leadership, Operation Ukraine at OU Health became the first program allowing foreign surgeons to gain hands-on experience in operating rooms in the United States. Through this hands-on work, cadaver labs, bidirectional training, and long-term professional partnerships, Operation Ukraine equips surgeons with advanced reconstructive and trauma skills that are directly applied on the front lines and tertiary care centers. The program has received national and international recognition and grant support for its innovative, sustainable model of global surgical education.
