About Mark Middleton

With two decades in the Web Development and Communications industry, I have been involved in projects of all types and sizes from custom enterprise projects for Nike to the small mom-and-pop shop’s brochure website. I have a keen ability to quickly dissect, comprehend and translate complex technical systems into understandable language.When my background in technology officially commenced during my time in the US Navy. As a Nuclear Reactor Operator and Electronic Technician, I served aboard the USS Parche — the most decorated war vessel in US Military history. Aboard the Parche, I excelled in leadership roles and built the training system used throughout the Reactor Control department. Testing standards, training and coaching of new technicians were all managed by me. During my military career, I earned commendations in excellence for my training system.In 1996, while the internet was just in its infancy, I began freelancing for the next few years to build web sites and interactive technology for Pacific Foods, Kettle Chips, Hansen’s Beverages and other local and national brands with a Portland PR/Marketing firm. I joined this firm as manager of the web department and expanded their offerings to include immersive virtual tours, online commerce and complex database-driven applications. Over the next 15 years, I was involved in partnerships with three Internet Startups. As CTO, I helped the founders of these service organizations create and deploy complex technical systems to support their business offerings.
