About Mark Mead
Mark has been working in urban forestry and forestry for the last 25 years. Mark\'s work has been used as a case study for the Intersector Project, a multi-sector approach to problem-solving.(See Intersector file ) Mark\'s goals are to build, plan and plant for the centuries. His interest lie in the areas of forestry technology (used LIDAR to develop Seattle\'s canopy way back in 2002), community engagement (the Green Seattle Partnership hosts over 1,240 volunteer events a year, volunteers hours) and fiscal responsibility (his unit in Parks exceeded revenue expectations by 50% for the last 3 years). Strategic planning has become a necessary and well-developed skill. Mark continues to create synergies between great visions and practical outcomes. As an example, Mark created a \"Shareholders\" annual meeting for volunteers to let them know the status and direction of the program, to let them know if their personal investment was doing well.Mark is currently working with the Society of American Foresters to expand Urban Forestry opportunities within traditional forestry.
