About Mark Mantell
I am an Investigator in Encoded Library Technology Chemistry at GSK in Cambridge, MA. Currently, I am working in on-DNA reaction development and DNA-encoded library synthesis at GSK. We synthesize large new libraries of compounds using DNA as a barcode. These libraries are then screened to find new lead compounds for the discovery of new pharmaceuticals. I completed my Ph.D. at Michigan in the lab of Prof. Melanie Sanford, where my experience spanned synthesis and methodology development. Specifically, I focused my studies on the development of new catalysts for rhodium catalyzed methane borylation and on development of the photocatalyzed amination of electron rich arenes.

Jul 2020 — Present · Cambridge, MA, US
I am a scientist (with a job title of investigator) who studies the development of new reactions for on-DNA chemistry in GSK\'s encoded library technology group. We strive to discover new pharmaceuticals through large scale screening of new libraries of compounds that we synthesize in house, using DNA as a diagnostic \"bar code\" to sort through successful binders from the library. My role is to develop and produce new compound libraries, as well as develop new techniques for hit follow up.
