    Serves as an advisor on administrative, civil, and/or criminal investigative matters to the Forensic Audits and Investigative Services (FAIS) Investigative Director, FAIS Managing Director, and GAO’s other top management officials, participating with them in formulating policies and procedures related to GAO’s investigative authority and responsibility.Manages GAO’s investigative activities, which are performed by Criminal Investigators, Investigative Research Analysts, and support staff to ensure activities are cost-effective, exemplify GAO’s core values, align with GAO’s strategic goals, and are conducted in accordance with GAO’s policies and quality assurance standards. Supervises and reviews the planning, organization, and execution of all investigative activities to identify potential violations of criminal law, as well as systemic and programmatic vulnerabilities within various government programs. Provides leadership and oversight of staff conducting investigative activities, including using multiple investigative techniques and tools and undercover activities, to ensure quality, adherence to standards, and timely client service. Oversees the development of high-quality investigative plans, reports, and other written and oral products to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.FAIS is authorized to investigate all matters related to the receipt, disbursement, and use of public money; to make an investigation ordered by either House of Congress or a congressional committee with jurisdiction over revenue, appropriations, or expenditures; and to respond to requests for assistance from a congressional committee with jurisdiction over revenue, appropriations, or spending. FAIS also undertakes investigations under the authority of the Comptroller General.
