About Mark Hogg

Mark Hogg is the Founder and CEO of WaterStep, a non-profit organization a history working in the developing world and in disasters. WaterStep designs and manufactures simple, affordable, efficient and sustainable equipment for people to be empowered to provide their own safe water, disinfection, sanitation and good health.Since its humble beginnings in 1995 as a small mission-based group, Mark has lead the organization through a series of transitions and growth resulting in WaterStep becoming a major player in the international fight against waterborne disease. WaterStep\'s team has implemented safe water projects in more than 50 countries and improved the lives of millions of people. Mark is an experienced motivational speaker, drawing on his background as an ordained minister and over 30 years of international travel. His extensive time in the field has uniquely positioned Mark to be an inspirational advocate for global water, sanitation, health issues and “the power of one” to make a difference in the world. His personal honors include receiving the Kentucky and Ohio Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst & Young, the inaugural Kentucky Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Muhammad Ali Center and recognized as Louisville\'s Compassion Water Laureate from Compassionate Cities. Out of 5,500 nominees, Mark was chosen as 1 of 128 Louisville Connectors by Leadership Louisville. In 2017, Insider Louisville awarded Mark as one of the top 38 Startup Innovators in the city. Mark has a BBA in Business Management from Belmont University in Nashville, TN and an MDiv from Southern Seminary in 1990 in Louisville, KY. He also founded and owned Hogg Contracting, a remodeling company, from 1986 to 1991. Living in Louisville, KY, he enjoys time with the four women in his life: his wife, Marcia, his daughter, Ariquonicaa, his granddaughter, Isabella and great FRA daughter, Magnolia. Carpentry, walks with Rozz (his Blue Tick Coonhound), and a good book are savored luxuries.
