Project Manager Square Kilometer Array Dishes @SKA Observatory

The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is a multi‐purpose radio telescope that will play a major rolein answering key questions in modern astrophysics and cosmology. It will be one of a smallnumber of cornerstone observatories around the world that will provide astrophysicists andcosmologists with a transformational view of the Universe.The Office of the SKA Organisation (“SKA Office”) will lead the SKA system design and overseethe supporting developments and designs within the globally distributed SKA work packages(WPs). To accomplish this goal the SKA Office will employ highly qualified scientists, projectmanagers and system engineers. Work packages for the major SKA subsystems (Elements) willbe contracted on a small number of work package consortia who will be responsible for themanagement, execution and delivery of the work packages. The technical strategy andphilosophy of the project are strongly based on system engineering principles.The SKA Office Engineering Project Manager will report to the SKA Project Manager and will beresponsible for the overall management, control and successful delivery of the specific Elementunder their control. They form the primary managerial link between the Element and theproject level efforts. As such they will provide managerial leadership to their Element andsupport the SKA Office managerial team by overseeing all aspects of the management withinhis/her Element (including all SKA Office subcontracted parts of the Element).
