ABOUT MARK HALLETT
Mark is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over sixteen years’ experience in private practice. Having joined the Landscape team at Stantec in 2023, Mark is working on a range of landscape assessments supporting planning submissions for Water industry clients. He is part of the Stantec Biodiversity Net Gain delivery group, seeking to formulate a strategic multi-disciplinary working approach.In his previous role at Arcadis, Mark was part of a joint venture project team, working on the Lower Thames Crossing scheme. His remit involved managing a team delivering the scheme Environmental Masterplan, bringing together various aspects of environmental mitigation design information from multiple other disciplines. In addition his team mapped and coodinated the proposed vegetation removal, working across disciplines to agree the retention of key aspects where feasible.Before joining Arcadis, Mark was part of the HS2 Landscape delivery team (Phase 2a and Phase 2b) for four years while at Gillespies. Within this role, Mark was a Landscape Lead for the design of a section of the Phase 2b route. This involved detailed coordination with multiple other disciplines, incorporating other environmental mitigation into the design deliverables. His remit also necessitated the presentation of proposals to client teams, local authorities and other government bodies, as well as participating in regular consultation meetings with stakeholders and the public. Mark was additionally part of the team preparing the landscape and visual assessment, and he coordinated site teams undertaking the associated site surveys and photography. Mark has also worked on a variety of other types of design projects, including the design of large educational and residential landscapes, and a number of award winning schemes. In a previous role at Gillespies as Project Landscape Architect of Birmingham University City South Campus, Mark was interviewed and provided input to the Landscape Institute’s ‘BIM for Landscape’ publication.Mark has gained invaluable experience through working on a number of Environmental Impact Assessments across the UK. These projects have varied in scale, ranging from small scale planning applications, to large NSIPs. Mark also has experience of authoring LVIAs, TVIAs, LVAs and LVTNs as well as landscape appraisals as part of non EIA applications.Mark is highly proficient in the production of visualisations for a variety of purposes, including Visually Verified Montages (VVMs), wireline production and other photomontages.
