ABOUT MARK G. GERELUS

Highly motivated and methodical Ph.D. scientist focused on understanding mechanisms of resistance in the predominantly pediatric cancer neuroblastoma and developing novel, rational therapeutic strategies using small molecule inhibitors to treat highly resistant tumors. With 6+ years of research experience in a highly translational, clinically-focused laboratory aimed to bring forward novel treatment strategies for patients with high-risk neuroblastoma, I am focused on specifically characterizing small molecule inhibitors in vitro and in vivo to gain an understanding of how difficult-to-treat, specifically therapy-resistant, models can be targeted and to prioritize compounds to move forward for clinical trials. Techniques: Cell culture, molecular biology, lentivirus production, CRISPR-Cas9 technology, shRNA knockdown, in vitro small molecule treatments, western blotting, in vivo xenograft establishment, in vivo drug treatments, RNA extraction, DNA extraction, PCR, Flow Cytometry Instruments: Azure Sapphire Imager, Promega GloMax Discover System, Beckman-Coulter Cytoflex S, qPCR, NanoDrop, TapeStation Software: Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, ImageJ, R
