About Mark Fick

Hello! I\'m the Founder of Retroflow, the feedback layer for modern engineering teams. The way engineering teams work is fundamentally changing. New tools aim to accelerate development, but they often introduce hidden pressures that aren\'t captured by traditional metrics. My focus is on identifying the invisible friction in engineering teams—the gap where increased output can lead to senior developer burnout, review-cycle fatigue, and technical waste. My goal is to help leaders understand the qualitative reality of their teams so they can build more sustainable, high-performing systems. My background is in data engineering. Throughout my career—from managing complex data systems at Nationwide to scaling infrastructure at Bowhead Specialty—I’ve seen how \"shadow friction\" can derail even the most talented organizations. I’ve learned that the most critical data points often lie in the team\'s \"Pulse\": the human side of the feedback loop that velocity charts and standard dashboards overlook. At Retroflow, we are building the intelligence layer to ensure that as engineering moves faster, it stays manageable and human-centric.
