ABOUT MARK FARRELL

As a dedicated Health and Safety Lead, I bring extensive experience in managing health and safety teams across various high-risk sectors. My role involves ensuring the highest standards of safety on large infrastructure projects, where the challenges are complex.One of my most significant achievements was overseeing health and safety on one of the contracts on the largest construction projects in Eastern Europe at the time. This project required meticulous planning and execution, particularly in the areas of fire safety, behavioural-based safety, occupational health, and CDM. My excellent influencing skills and ability to communicate effectively have been pivotal in driving a culture of safety across all levels of the organisations I’ve worked for. I have successfully engaged internal and external stakeholders, from senior management to frontline workers, ensuring that safety protocols are understood, embraced, and implemented consistently. My approachability and clear communication have fostered trust and collaboration, making safety a shared responsibilities. I championed a behavioural-based safety program that focused on cultivating a safety-first mindset among all employees. Through workshops, training sessions, and continuous engagement, I encouraged workers to take personal responsibility for their safety and the safety of their colleagues. These initiative led to a significant reduction in accidents and near-misses throughout the programme.Recognising the importance of occupational health, I introduced measures to monitor and improve the well-being of the workforce. This included regular health screenings, mental health support, and ergonomic assessments to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses. By prioritising the health of the employees, I ensured a more productive and motivated workforce.Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations is a critical aspect of my role. I worked closely with designers, contractors, and clients to integrate health and safety considerations into every stage of the project. This collaborative approach not only ensured legal compliance but also fostered a culture of safety that permeated the entire project lifecycle.Through my leadership and dedication, I have consistently delivered projects that meet the highest safety standards, protecting both the workforce and the public. My ability to navigate the complexities of high-risk environments and large-scale projects has made me a trusted and respected figure in the field of health and safety.
