Training Unit North West was established in 2013 by founder-director Mark Boulton. Our mission is to provide high-quality, practical First Aid and Mental Health training, tailored to the specific needs of your organization or business. Whether you’re a care home, a children’s nursery, a hotel chain or a topflight football club, we can deliver excellent onsite training that works for your team, schedule and business. Founder-director Mark started his career as a Combat Medical Technician in the Royal Army Medical Corps, deploying practical First Aid skills in a variety of scenarios. Mark then spent twenty years in the Prison Service, where his First Aid skills were tested on a daily basis, covering a diverse degree of injuries ranging from small scratches to CPR. Mark has studied and worked with mental health for over 25 years and is a passionate advocate for quality Mental Health training in the workplace. ABOUT MARK BOULTON
My name is Mark Boulton, just a little about my background and experience. My first interest in first aid developed in 1987 when I joined the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Combat Medical Technician. In this time I gained lots of experience dealing with every scenario imaginable.After a short time in the forces I joined the Prison service as a Prison Officer.I worked at HMP Manchester for 20 years, throughout this period I kept an interest in first aid as both a first aider and as a tutor teaching young offenders in the community.As a first aider in the prison service, your skills are tested on a near daily basis, covering a diverse degree of injuries ranging from small scratches to CPR.To enable me to teach first aid in the community I attended a 6 week PTTLS course at Salford City College. I really enjoyed the course and knew at this point that this would be part of my future.The skills learnt on this course were tested to the limit when instructing offenders either in prison or young offenders on community programmes.To achieve any positive results in this area you need to lead from the front, show constant enthusiasm, use motivational skills and be able to use appropriate humour when relevant.I believe these skills I have practised over the past 20 years have helped me become a more professional, diverse, understanding, patient and experienced trainer.I took redundancy from the prison service in 2013 as I wanted to create my own business teaching first aid and CPR Defrbrillation courses. I attended a NUCO instructors/Assessors course in First Aid At Work and Automated External Defibrillation in November 2013,2016 & 2019.After passing this course I formed my First aid training company \"Training Unit North West\"I now enjoy teaching First Aid Nationwide, the feedback I receive is amazing, my learners always comment on my relevant life experiences and they often state that listening to someone who has so much experience within First Aid rather than just a teacher showing them slides makes their learning experience much more interesting and easier to follow.In July 2019 I completed the First Aid For Mental Health Trainers Course, this qualification allows me to deliver all three levels of training.I have worked and studied Mental Health for over 25 years and I believe people are now starting to realise the importance of being aware of Mental Health Issues.If you would like more information please feel free to contact me.
