ABOUT MARK JONES

I have a proven track record in growing sales at product companies. In my 5+ years as President/CEO at SEEPEX our sales grew from $32 to $53 million dollars. This included sales growth of +6% during 2020, the main pandemic year. I directed the dramatic increase of EBT from -0.2% when I started to +17.9% as I left. This greatly contrasts with the flat/stagnant performance of SEEPEX for 4 years before I started. I implemented many process improvements in the order management and production process which led to faster product lead-times and improved on-time delivery performance (typically 93%). All SEEPEX products are built per order. For an easier business process, I re-organized the customer service group to allow a single point of contact for our customers.A critical element to our success was improving the company culture. As I arrived at SEEPEX the different departments had poor working relationships. In order to grow the company this needed to change. The working relations were especially poor between our outside sales groups and our inside sales support. There was a culture of blame. To change I first needed to have each group understand the correct roles and responsibilities for the other; in the past each group had inappropriate expectations. Next, we agreed on joint expectations. Finally, we created an attitude of how “I” and not “they” could improve the situation. This improved the company work culture and enabled real performance improvement. At my 17+ years with NORD we grew our business from $22M to $140M. I was the key individual to close our new business opportunities. I introduced online customers tools to allow for faster and more accurate customer interactions. I created and implemented the strategy to launch two new classes of products, Variable frequency drives (VFD’s) and large industrial gearboxes. Both of these new classes of products were very important to our rapid and sustained sales growth.
